VENTURES AFRICA  – Owners of Ghana’s first wholly owned Ghanaian cargo ship MV Adobia have signed a deal with one of the world’s most respected shipping lines ZIM Integrated Shipping Limited.

Established in 1945, ZIM Integrated Shipping has since become one of the foremost carriers in the global container shipping industry. Over 100 modern vessels make up ZIM’s fleet, including mega-vessels of 8,000 and 10,000 TEUs, and together these have a total carrying capacity of over 337,000 TEU.

The deal is considered to be strategic as the feeder service operated by AICS will be complementing ZIM’s operations in Ghana.

African Independent Coastal Services (AICS’s) deal with the Israeli Shipping line ZIM means AICS will move full and empty containers for ZIM along the Tema – Takoradi route.

A feeder service operates by shipping cargoes in smaller vessels to and from the load centre port of larger ocean-going vessels often belonging to international liners.

Meanwhile, feeder service operated by African Independent Coastal Services (AICS) has commenced calls on the Tema – Takoradi route this April with its 650 TEU multi-purpose cargo vessel named M/V Adobia.
