European states at the weekend cautioned travellers to avoid Egypt’s Red Sea seaside hotels, forcing travel firms to cancel all tours to the violence swept North African country.

Reuters reported that tour operators, Thomas Cook Germany, and TUI Germany, stopped all tours to Egypt following the German foreign ministry’s directive saying trips to the seaside hotels be cancelled.

Egypt’s resorts are visited by about 1.2 million Germans a year, Reuters claimed.

The tour operating companies have given these travellers a choice of other destinations, without paying extra fees.

According to Reuters, Air Berlin, among Germany’s largest carriers, was also currently rejecting new reservations to Egypt ‘till mid-September this year.

US NBC News also reported that Egyptian bloodshed was harming the country’s economy.

The violence was also increasing worries that that other Middle Eastern states are set to feel the pain too.

It is understood that a huge number of US tourists have abandoned tours to Egypt.

According to NBC News, tour operators were also rejecting bookings to the country.

Delta Air Lines and EgyptAir have put off air travel from the US to Cairo, the capital of the struggling country.

Other large tour operators such as Gate 1 Travel and cruise firms including Norwegian Cruise Line have also dropped Egyptian stopovers, according to NBC News.
