VENTURE AFRICA – Bank of Kigali Limited, the largest bank in Rwanda has received an e-Payment Gateway from iVeri Payment Technologies, a leading provider of multi-channel e-payment solutions, making it the first bank in Rwanda to acquire e-Commerce merchant transactions.
Doing business in Africa is becoming easier than ever with the partnerships between African companies, Lawson Naibo, the Bank of Kigali Operating Officer said. iVeri, a South Africa based company has brought to Africa a great experience and its pan African spirit on the fight against online transaction fraud and has also partnered with other African business centers, since its creation in 1998.
Lawson Naibo noted that e-commerce was a key in “the tourism and entertainment industries”, as modern travellers do all their bookings online.
“We are delighted to take the lead in providing Rwanda with a gateway to the world of e-commerce and iVeri, provides a multi-channel Payment Gateway that meets our requirements as we seek to enhance our service offerings”, Naibo said.
“This marks a significant move in providing innovative and convenient financial services to our customers. We are committed to harnessing the advanced capabilities of technology to improve our service to customers and the decision to invest in iVeri technology is another example of this” commented Naibo said at the signing of the deal between the two companies on Monday in Kigali, according to New Times Rwanda.
According to iVeri CEO, Barry Coetzee “iVeri’s experience and tailor-made solutions can help Bank of Kigali deliver an enhanced customer service experience while offering increased return on investment,”, during the agreement ceremonies in Kigali on Monday. With such efforts, he added, African investments will skyrocket and African business will know a great expansion even beyond African frontiers.
iVeri creates technology for financial institutions and businesses to facilitate multiple-channel transaction acceptance, in total security according to its website, as today the world faces cyber crime.
In 2012, iVeri made other partnerships with other African companies. The company introduced a mobile Chip & PIN solution that allows processing of major credit cards as well as local debit card schemes in November 2012.
